Welcome to Guelph-Wellington Basketeers!
For the past fifteen years, our hundreds of gracious supporters have curated wrapped laundry baskets for women at risk during the holiday season filled with essential household items to assist them in their new beginnings. Imagine how hard it would be to leave most of your belongings behind. This is a kind gesture to make this transition a little easier. We are excited to continue to support the Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis Centre (GWWIC).
This 2024 season, I invite YOU to join our annual holiday tradition of putting together thoughtful and useful gift baskets for women transitioning from shelter to new home.
Here are a few tips for putting together your own basket(s):
- Essential household items only please (see suggested items list below)
- Items should be new please
- No personal care items / toiletries please
- No sized clothing please
- No food or beverages please
- Basket wrapping is optional
- Please attach an itemized list to the outside of your basket(s)
You are cordially invited to deliver your basket(s) in person at our annual basket drop-off event on Saturday, November 23rd! Please make time to come by with your family and friends, enjoy coffee and treats, and celebrate the outpouring of generosity and support of our Guelph-Wellington community members.
Drop-off Date: Saturday, November 23, 2024
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Location: Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis Centre (38 Elizabeth Street, Guelph, N1E)
Contact: Register your basket(s) below or email
Of course, Basketeers continues to welcome DONATIONS. With your generosity, I will purchase gift cards and deliver them to GWWIC. Gift cards for Walmart Canada and Canadian Tire (as chosen by GWWIC) will provide women at risk with the opportunity to purchase exact household items they need to transition from shelter to new home. The deadline for monetary donation is November 15, 2024.
*Please note Basketeers is not a registered charity. No tax receipt will be issued for donations.
Since the launch of our local chapter in 2009, Guelph and County of Wellington continue to come together as one generous and connected community! Over the past fifteen years, the Guelph-Wellington Basketeers chapter has donated nearly 1,200 gift baskets and more than $36,000 in gift cards through our wonderful partners at GWWIC to help local women at risk.
Thank you in advance for supporting the Guelph-Wellington Basketeers network this season!
Sincerely,
Laura Blinkhorn, Director, Guelph-Wellington Basketeers
